LISTEN HERE

Each having their own breakout success stories in recent years, today Kiwi/Aussie producer Jolyon Petch and African/Asian/Australian songstress Starley team up for the ultimate dance pop collaboration ‘I Just Want Your Touch’, out now on Central Station Records. Lyrically, the song speaks to the feeling of unapologetically longing for someone, the comfort they provide, and being content in that place. With Starley’s intimate and heartfelt lyrics shining through, underpinned by an oozing melody, and Jolyon Petch’s award winning production prowess, the single is an instant dancefloor delight.

Speaking about how she first penned the single Starley shares "‘I Just Want Your Touch’ came about when I was on a tour in England. Jolyon heard the vocals and wanted to do something fresh with them. It definitely didn’t start out as a dance record, but he crushed it!”

Jolyon goes on to share the inception of the song’s production, detailing “my side of the production came together with me initially laying down piano chords first, just riffing out in my studio to catch that uplifting feeling for what would work in the club, then progressing through to a solid drum foundation and bouncy bass vibe. Within 15 seconds of listening to Starley’s early vocal demo I knew this could be a hit song in combination with my production and couldn't wait to properly record and turn this into my next single with her.”

A staple of Melbourne’s club scene, Jolyon Petch, has achieved eleven #1 singles on the ARIA Club Chart, and having had his music supported by a plethora of international tastemakers including Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Diplo, Oliver Heldens, Tiesto, and more. Releasing his house rework of the iconic Fleetwood Mac single ‘Dreams feat. Reigan’, Petch had his own breakout moment. The single went on to garner over 27 million streams, accredited 2x Platinum in AU & Platinum in NZ, before going on to become the #1 most played Australian song in the country, earning himself an ARIA Award nomination for Best Dance Release, and a further nomination for the MTV Europe Music Awards.

For Starley, the new single is the first piece of new music since the release of her acclaimed debut album ‘One of One’, and sees the bright artist return with all the charisma for which she’s become known. The 13-track album included a suite of fan favourites including ‘Lovers + Strangers’, ‘Love Is Love’, and of course the hit single ‘Call On Me (Ryan Riback Remix)’ which quickly shot her to global stardom. Having garnered over 1 billion streams, and countless Gold and Platinum awards across territories, Starley went on to warm up the stage for some of the world’s biggest pop stars including Cher, Katy Perry, Carly Rae Jepsen, Clean Bandit and more. With further guest appearances on Good Morning America, The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Project, Studio 10, and The Morning Show, whilst also gracing the pages of Vogue, InStyle, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Billboard, and more.
